The Falmouth Public Schools in Massachusetts has posted Gay Pride heart- shaped signs at all the school entrances during June- known as Gay Pride Month.
Apparently Falmouth Public Schools are really shoving it in the face of good families trying to do their best to raise God fearing moral children. We know full well that the gay lifestyle is anything but gay.
The School’s actions are blatantly divisive- contrary to the School’s own mission statement, which reads:
CORE VALUES
-
- Empower students to find joy in their learning
- Embrace each other’s differences and cultivate community
- Encourage a life of growth and wellness
Endorsing the gay lifestyle, contrary to the faith of every Catholic student, and many other students, is an assault on the innocence of little children, and one can only imagine the instructions and conversations which the signs engender in the classroom and playground. It undermines trust.
While a broad community protest is beyond Veil’s ability to execute, it probably would do no good anyway. Veil can only post to parents this notice and urge parents to take action within their own families.
Parents need to explain to their children in delicate language the meaning of the signs. Veil encourages them to use this opportunity to speak to their own children about God’s sacramental plan for love and marriage.
Parents can reference the Catechism of the Catholic Church for help. The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality is an intrinsic disorder. Sodomy is sinful. And tell their children that the month of June is traditionally dedicated to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
By giving the kids some loving parental explanation, the innocence of little children will be protected before it is traumatized, and the older teens will be equipped to defend our Church’s teachings in public discourse.
The flip side of this event, perhaps, will be to get parents to be increasingly involved in what is being taught to their kids on a myriad of social issues. Simple trust is really no longer possible in this day and age.
Respectfully submitted,
