Dear Alice:

For some time now you have written to this Archdiocese, you have petitioned this Archdiocese and you have presented various kinds of material to this Archdiocese regarding sex education in Catholic schools. With extreme sensitivity toward you, the Cardinal has had a special commission review your material, he has written to you a number of times. I have written to you a number of times. All of these have been to no avail.

Alice, you and I have always been very honest with each other. I write now to remind you that there has to be a certain amount of trust that every Catholic offers to a bishop. That kind of trust, it would seem to me, would demand of you and of me that we have faith that His Eminence will always act as best be can for the good of souls and for the future good of the Church. In that spirit of a trust we share and a sense of holy obedience to our Bishop, I would like to ask you please to cease this kind of constant, negative and unproductive activity. These actions belie the affection which you have expressed so often for His Eminence and for this Archdiocese.

With prayers for you and for your family, I am

Yours in Christ,

Reverend Monsignor William Murphy,
Moderator of the Curia
