Alice von Hildebrand Affirms Veil of Innocence

Classroom sex education has always been forbidden by the Catholic Church because it is harmful to the moral development of the students. Pope Pius XI formalized that condemnation in his Encyclical of 1929., Illius divini magistri. ( Christian Education for Youth)  My husband and his colleague Bill Marra wrote an excellent critique of these programs which Veil of Innocence offers for download or purchase. It is called “Sex Education: The Basic Issues and Related Essay.”

Classroom sex education programs go by many names and many forms and parents need to be vigilant both in public and private schools. Even in Catholic schools we find abstinence based so called “chastity programs” or “safe environment programs,” all of which infringe on parents’ rights and are invasive and impure. The Catholic schools need to concentrate on teaching the fullness of the Catholic Faith, which includes the virtues and the Commandments. Public schools also must abide by common rules of respect and modesty. This generation has lost the sense of reverence -that supra-natural virtue which gives appropriate value to things. I am grateful to be a founding board member of Veil of Innocence and I look forward to the day when these programs are no more. I implore God’s blessing on the work of Veil of Innocence.
