Dear Alice:

For some time I have had on my desk your letter of September 11th and have been uncertain as to how I would respond to it.

It seems to me that we have had a very good and honest exchange of opinions and thoughts on this whole question of sexuality education in the Catholic Schools. I also am satisfied that what is going on in the Archdiocese of Boston is in accordance with Catholic morality. This does not mean that things cannot be improved or that there isn’t room for growth and if necessary correction. However, I do think that at the present time I don’t see anything further that I am in a position to do or that I wish to do in this particular area. Therefore barring some new information I am considering my part in this whole discussion to be closed.

It was good to see you and Ed in Springfield. You know that you and your family are in my prayers.

With every best wish, I am

Bill
Rev. Monsignor William Murphy
