The current battle for the children
June 27, 2004
As the introduction to Crocodile Tears reports, sex education issues were featured in the writing of Our Lady’s Crusaders for Life newsletters. Bob Delery worked for the implementation of Cardinal Trujillo’s letter in defense of families called, “The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality: Guidelines for Education Within the Family.” I founded Veil of Innocence (www.veilofinnocence.org) in order to promote the Church’s teachings and assist parents with their children.
However, nothing was done in an institutional way to remove offensive programs in the Boston Archdiocese and for that matter, most of the dioceses in the United States. As soon as parents would review a particular offensive sex education program, a new program would pop up. This continues to this day.
In conjunction with the recent sex scandals of the Catholic Church, the American Bishops have mandated so-called “Safe Environment programs” for children which they claim protect children from child abuse.
Not surprisingly, the programs undermined the authority of the family and violate the principal of subsidiarity. Worse yet, the programs, themselves, are another form of classroom sex education, promoted by the very people who continue to require sex education in the Catholic schools.
Veil of Innocence continues to provide assistance to parents and information about these programs, as well as other issues vital to the sanctity of families and purity of the doctrines of the Catholic Church.
